Contemporary gothic apartement

Mixed media, 100*120 cm. May 2010.

This one is a course work for interior design from my 2nd course in the college. We drew lots to get one historical period and had to design an idea-project to one specific house. We had the freedom to interpret the period as we want and this is mine. I really enjoyed the process, it’s one of my favourite designs that I have created.

Born in the USA

Paper, cardboard, pen, 50*70cm. January 2011

Idea-project for painting’s design on the topic “History of USA” . The medium would be sgraffito. Spent a lot of time cutting this out of paper, but enjoyed the clean outcome and simple design.

Secco of Goya’s fresco

Secco, 60*70 cm. May 2010

This one is from my second course in college. We had a historical secco painting course and I chose Goya because I have always been somehow fascinated about his work, something overnatural, especially lighter and softer pieces:) And there’s something about me and angels…

Morning Crisp

Oil on board, 50*75 cm. October 2011

It’s another painting from our studio-painting course. With this one, I felt really free with colours. Didn’t want it to be too colourful, but the mild combination of green, pink and gray, and then this burning red as an accent felt right. Still enjoy the attitude of the model!

Opening of “Out of Comfort Zone”

On 21.11.11 I had the opening of my (as you already know:) very first personal exhibition. Although I had only 11 days to do the experiment, I discovered a lot during this time. First of all, it took me a little bit time to get into the flow, but since I gave myself totally free hands as far as material, technique and dimensions – I really started to enjoy it and I let myself free. I decided not to try to change things that happen to me during the process, just to accept them and take it as part of the experiment.

Since the project was about getting to know myself and the world around me, I took photos of the moments that were somehow significant, I used school assignments and painted people who I see or don’t see daily. I like the way different people saw the different aspects of my personality in the letters that they sent, answering questions about me. I found some things surprising as well.

At some point of the time, I had so many ideas and I was so in the action, that it was hard to concentrate on those million obligations and events that I had during these 11 days. What I discovered, was that it’s impossible to realize ALL of my ideas in 11 days:) And another discovery was that I have a lot of amazing people around me, who are interested in what I am doing, come along with me and help me a lot with making my crazy thoughts to come through. Thank you, everybody!:)

And of course, we came to the idea to take photos at the end of the opening when most of the people had already left. It’s so me:)

Out of Comfort Zone

Here it finally is! My own exhibition with my very own experiment:)

11 days. Experiment with myself – to live inside the art with my whole body and mind and create from everything and to everything around me. And then – put it out for public. I’m playing with borders and trying to cross them. The freedom to be myself or somebody else.

Out of Comfort Zone – I don’t know where I will be in the end and if and what comes out. I want to go along the process and live in it. I’m learning to know the impossible possibilities and I want to share it with others. I want to see, when you create anything in totally random situations (or change anything into creation by just touching it), can you always see the artist’s personality through it or maybe something totally different? I don’t set any restrictions to myself on material, theme or format. Comes, what comes itself. On the exhibition you can see not so much carefully analyzed final-result, but more the sensitivity-feelingless-emotions-situations of the process.
I’m a Tartu Art College 4th year painting-student and I have participated in couple of group exhibitions and projects to design public spaces, but this is my first personal exhibition. Thoughts of my own exhibition have been around for a while already, now finally coming out of the comfort zone. The idea to experiment with myself came from the will to combine painting freely with other media, from photo to my own body and thoughts. The ideas are developing towards film as well

Portraits in process

We are currently working on a exhibition project in our creative project course. The task was to create 3-4 portraits in a totally free technique, media and composition. This is my input in process, there might come some additional ones and I’m still working on these (they are 60*80 cm, oil on board).
