The second of two paintings inspired by Irma Salo Jaeger and the course that we had in October 2011. These are abstractions of my home town, Tartu and the feelings and colours which come to my mind when I think about the places and people here.

I used egg-tempera technique (which Irma teached us) and mixed the colour pigments to get the paint. Very interesting way of painting, almost like a meditation, because of the slow pace and patience it needs. I quite enjoyed these long hours:)

This piece is a 3D scale model from our interior design course and exhibiton project in Võru Linnagalerii. The subject to deal with was “Own Space”, my work is about the space in my heart.

Heart is a very personal place. There can be hidden both good and bad, there can be found all our experiences, fears, but also, our hopes and love. There are our close ones, in my heart, there is all the diversity of life. In my space of heart is curiosity to learn about everything around me, but at the same time it is a safe and cozy place, just to be with yourself.

Here’s one painting from last spring that I found. It’s painted during our intercurricular project in the course with Sofia Wilkman, an Finnish abstract artist. It just captures the feeling and movement and is almost totally improvised, at the end, I added a small detail to create space.

This is one of the three in the same series “Portraits – Adventure Companions” (see “Kadi” and “Liis” as well!). It’s our creative project for an intercurricular project with textile departement. We will have a exhibition together with them.

During this project I enjoyed every second. I have been thinking about painting some over-life-sized portraits for quite time already and now I finally had the opportunity to do exactly what I like. I chose the colors, texture and pose that felt right for this person and didn’t restrict myself in anything. I hope you enjoy it as well:)

“Meditation” is a painting about the memories about my last summer. I worked hard, very hard, 3 months in a row. I didn’t have almost any time for myself. But somehow, it was the time when I found myself and had an extraordinary peace in my mind. I wanted to scream of the pain and tension and at the same time I really got to know myself. I figured out where I am and where I am going. Sometimes you have to go far to find something that is close.:)

An independent work in studio painting that is inspired by the photoshoot that I took for my exhibition. The small format was actually really enjoyable to paint on and the reflections and tones felt just right:)
