Adventure companions vol 3. – Liisi

Oil on board, 68*95 cm. December 2011.

This is one of the three in the same series “Portraits – Adventure Companions” (see “Kadi” and “Liis” as well!). It’s our creative project for an intercurricular project with textile departement. We will have a exhibition together with them.

During this project I enjoyed every second. I have been thinking about painting some over-life-sized portraits for quite time already and now I finally had the opportunity to do exactly what I like. I chose the colors, texture and pose that felt right for this person and didn’t restrict myself in anything. I hope you enjoy it as well:)

Meditation

Oil on board, 145*95 cm. January 2012.

“Meditation” is a painting about the memories about my last summer. I worked hard, very hard, 3 months in a row. I didn’t have almost any time for myself. But somehow, it was the time when I found myself and had an extraordinary peace in my mind. I wanted to scream of the pain and tension and at the same time I really got to know myself. I figured out where I am and where I am going. Sometimes you have to go far to find something that is close.:)

Thank you, all the awsome people, that I was lucky to work with. Especially Kairi, who was my roommate and the model for the painting. There are more special ones who know it themselves:)

In the Spotlight

Oil on board, 50*60 cm. January 2012.

An independent work in studio painting that is inspired by the photoshoot that I took for my exhibition. The small format was actually really enjoyable to paint on and the reflections and tones felt just right:)

Eat me.

Oil on board, 87*124 cm. December 2011.

This painting is an independent work for the exhibition “Food” in Võru. Our food gives us the face and appearance. What we consume, becomes part of us and looks back in the mirror. We want to be free and independent in our decisions, not bounded by other people’s opinion. We strive for spirit and freedom, but therewhile we have to feed on something – and this process doesn’t always depend on our will as much as we want to believe.

The exhibition will be open until 20th of January!        http://uudised.err.ee/index.php?06241677

Power of Femininity

Oil on board, 90*120 cm. November 2011.

This is the second of the three bigger oil paintings on my exhibition “Out of Comfort Zone”. I doubted, if I should make it a self-portrait or not, but I feel that it came out just right. I decided to paint this one really light, colourful, sensitive. And it’s a bit faster work that the “Feel the Attitude”,

Feel the Attitude

Oil on board, 120*90 cm. November 2011.

This is one of the three bigger oil paintings on my exhibition “Out of Comfort Zone”. I had had the vision of a nice, muscular male figure for a while and I found just the right model by the time of the project. We made a photoshoot first, because of lack of time and I enjoyed both, shooting and painting it.

Mother sitting

Pencil and watercolour on paper, 40*60 cm. November 2011.

Another short-period work made during my “Out of Comfort Zone” project. I really enjoyed the pose that my mom agreed to hold and I felt free with the aquarelle.
